Self-Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis is a method that enables an individual to induce a hypnotic state without the assistance of a hypnotist. It can be employed for various purposes, such as reducing stress levels. Self-hypnosis techniques commonly involve relaxation exercises, visualization, or other approaches to achieve a hypnotic state. Once in this state, the individual can provide themselves with suggestions to accomplish their desired objectives.  When practicing self-hypnosis, your subconscious mind is receptive to new ideas and can be reprogrammed with positive thoughts and beliefs.

Self-Hypnosis is not as effective as sessions with a trained hypnotist.  It is limited with the results that can be obtained because the element of surprise is missing.  Hypnosis is much more powerful when the person does not know the metaphors and stories told to achieve positive change.

Visual Imagery

Visualization techniques involve using mental imagery to create a specific experience or outcome. Visual imagery is a powerful tool that can be used to enhance performance, reduce anxiety, and improve overall well-being. For example, during hypnosis, the hypnotist may guide the person through a visualization exercise, such as imagining a peaceful beach or visualizing success in a particular task. Visual imagery can help the person create a positive and empowering mental state.

In general, hypnotic methods are potent resources that can be utilized to attain various objectives. Employing suggestion techniques, visualization, metaphors, and storytelling, hypnosis can facilitate the achievement of desired results and enhance an individual’s overall state of wellness.

Self-Hypnosis and Visual Imagery Exercise

1.Think of a self-improvement suggestion that you want to work on. Choose only one suggestion at a time.

2. Find a tranquil and quiet location where you feel at peace.

3. Sit with your feet flat on the floor and your hands on your lap. During hypnosis, the hands cannot touch because one hand represents the conscious and the other the subconscious.  When they touch it is difficult to just target the subconscious mind and that is what hypnosis is based on.

4. Find a spot above your eye level. You can create a beautiful, peaceful blue circle or any color of your choosing and tape it on the wall above your eyes.  I suggest blue because it is a color of calm and serenity.

5. To help you relax, focus on the circle and count backward from twenty to zero. When you reach zero, gently close your eyes.

6. To calm your mind, take three deep breaths and exhale slowly. As you inhale, visualize inhaling peace and relaxation, and as you exhale, imagine releasing all negativity and tension. With each breath, you’ll feel more and more relaxed.

7. Imagine a sense of calmness gradually spreading from the crown of your head to your eyes, lips, cheeks, and your entire face. Allow this tranquil feeling to descend through your neck, shoulders, arms, chest, and stomach, and all the way down to the bottom of your feet. Take a moment to enjoy this serene relaxation.

8. Picture yourself at the top of a hill with a winding road ahead. Start counting backward from twenty to zero as you walk down the winding road. As you move down each step, you’ll feel more and more relaxed. Once you reach the bottom of the hill, you’ll find yourself in a beautiful garden full of colorful and vibrant flowers. Take a moment to admire the pink, yellow, white, and red roses, giant sunflowers, and other varieties of flowers and lush greenery.

9. By now, you should be feeling completely relaxed, with your subconscious mind open to suggestions. Think of the self-improvement idea and repeat it slowly three times, while visualizing it as if it has already become a reality. Take a moment to appreciate the experience.

10. Now it’s time to climb the hill while counting from zero to ten. With each step, you’ll feel rejuvenated, energized, and filled with positivity.

11. When you get to the top of the hill, open your eyes.

Managing Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety are common problems that can be difficult to manage. Hypnosis can be used to induce a state of relaxation and reduce the physical and emotional symptoms of stress and anxiety. During hypnosis, the person may be guided through a relaxation exercise or visualization to promote a sense of calm and well-being. Hypnosis can also help the person develop coping strategies and build resilience when facing stress.

I help clients who suffer from ongoing stress and anxiety.  I educate people so that they understand that feelings are not facts and by choosing to think different thoughts, they can change the way they feel.

For example, if I ask them to think and visualize a time that they felt sad like a funeral, the loss of a job, or the ending of a relationship, they would probably begin to feel sad.  In the same way, if I asked them to think of something that made them happy like a birthday party, a vacation, or a new love, they would probably begin to feel happy.

To a certain extent, we can control how we feel in the conscious mind which will help alleviate unwanted feelings. Through hypnosis, positive thoughts are created in the subconscious mind helping relieve feelings of stress and anxiety.

Physical Pain and Hypnosis

Many times clients exhibit pain like tightening in the shoulders, headaches, gastrointestinal problems, and other physical symptoms.

The pain may be associated with the autonomic nervous system that lies beneath the central nervous system.  When the autonomic nervous system is triggered it manifests in physical pain.

Emotions and feelings trigger the autonomic nervous system.  The negative feelings and emotions causing the pain can be eliminated through hypnosis, relieving the physical pain.

A helpful technique for pain relief involves imagining the hand being placed on ice and becoming numb. This can be followed by visualizing the cold, numb hand being applied to the affected area to alleviate the discomfort.

In the past, I had the opportunity to assist a man who had been bedridden for 90 days and was unable to stand up. With a few sessions, he was able to walk slowly, leaving his wife and doctor astonished. The doctor was so impressed that he even came to me for treatment for his own condition.

I also had the opportunity to conduct hypnotherapy presentations at a hospital in New Jersey, benefiting both patients and staff. The positive effects it had on patient health were significant enough to attract media attention, and my work was featured on the news. You can find the story on positivepowerhypnotherapy.com.

Smoking Cessation

Hypnosis can be an effective tool to stop smoking. Hypnosis can help people change their thoughts and behaviors around smoking by inducing relaxation and suggestibility. For example, the hypnotist may use suggestion techniques to help the person associate smoking with negative emotions or sensations, such as nausea or disgust. Hypnosis can also help the person develop new habits and coping strategies to replace smoking. Please see the Smoking Cessation tab under Services for more information

The Color Red

The color red is the most dominant of colors. It is the color of energy and health and is associated with the heart and the blood. It stimulates the mind and makes people feel alive.  It also helps boost mental health.

The color red is a powerful color that can be effectively used in hypnosis.  When a person is feeling weak, physically or emotionally I have them visualize the color red and ask them to imagine absorbing strength and health, improving every area of their lives.

I create an ongoing positive tie to the color red through a hypnotic suggestion that every time they see red, whether it is the red of an apple, a traffic light, a wall painted red, and even as small as a nail painted with red polish, the feelings of strength and health will be enhanced.

I also use the color red when working with a person to stop smoking.  I create a tie for motivation, suggesting that every time they see the color red, it will appear sharper and brighter than ever. Every time the mind encounters it, the desire, determination, and motivation to remain a permanent non-smoker will become stronger.

Weight Loss and Healthy Habits

Hypnosis can be used to promote healthy habits and weight loss. Hypnosis can help the person change their thought patterns and behaviors around food and exercise by inducing a state of relaxation and suggestibility. For example, the hypnotist may use suggestion techniques to help the person feel more motivated to exercise or to make healthier food choices. Hypnosis can also help the person develop coping strategies and build resilience in the face of temptation or setbacks.

During hypnosis, I have been able to stop the person from eating certain unhealthy foods that they may be addicted to like bread or soda by associating them with conditions like diabetes.

I once stopped a client from eating chocolate by associating it with dog feces. I make sure the person wants to permanently stop the behavior before going under hypnosis because it is difficult to reverse the new behavior.

Another time I had a client stop eating red meat by associating it with dead human flesh.  The hypnotic suggestion was so powerful that her doctor was amazed and very pleased.

Improving Performance in Sports or Other Activities

Hypnosis can be used to improve performance in sports and other activities. Hypnosis can help the person visualize success and build confidence in their abilities by inducing a state of relaxation and focus.

For example, a person preparing for a marathon may be guided through a visualization exercise to imagine themselves crossing the finish line and feeling proud and accomplished. Hypnosis can also help the person develop mental strength and overcome performance anxiety.

Learning and Test-Taking

I help people increase their capacity to learn difficult information like nursing students.  I have worked with individuals and conducted presentations at colleges.

The process of studying involves both the conscious and subconscious minds. In the conscious mind, I provide guidance on effective study methods, such as studying in two-hour intervals and taking breaks to stretch and eat protein. These practices aid in the brain’s ability to absorb and retain information. Additionally, it is crucial to avoid studying right before an exam, allowing the mind time to process the information learned.

Through hypnosis, I guide individuals to visualize a sponge in their subconscious. This sponge symbolizes their brain’s ability to absorb information swiftly and accurately. As they prepare to take the exam, they can envision squeezing out all the information from the sponge, empowering them to achieve success.

Mindset Transformation

Mindset transformation is a process designed to help break through barriers that are holding a person back.  This will help change the mind for the best, skyrocketing a person to success.

It enables the person to unleash the power of the subconscious mind to produce rapid change with lasting results and will help identify and reinforce what is important to the person in a quest for excellence.

Mindset transformation will help to motivate and build self-confidence, allowing the client to combat mental blocks, fears, negative self-talk, and focus issues.  I work with athletes, students, and business professionals giving them that special edge to excel in all areas of life.

Mindset transformation hypnosis can also help the person overcome self-doubt and allow them to hone skills, master techniques, and have confidence and positive self-value.

Metaphysical Hypnotherapy

I have developed a method called metaphysical hypnotherapy that guides individuals to visualize a sensation of electric, tingling energy throughout their body while under hypnosis. The process involves imagining a flow of light starting from the feet and moving upwards towards the head, strengthening as it passes through every cell of the body.

The technique involves focusing the energy on the top of the head, activating dopamine receptors for three seconds before deactivating them. The individual is encouraged to visualize dopamine spreading throughout their body, generating positive vibes. This method aids in eliminating negative emotions such as stress and anxiety and replacing them with feelings of well-being.

Through metaphysical hypnotherapy, I have successfully relieved allergies, constipation, and other conditions.  It also helps with sleep and weight loss.

At the end of the induction, it is important to have the person visualize a light dimmer to dim the energy so that they can continue their day peacefully and calmly. It is also important to continuously empower the person with positive energy by suggesting that when they need the electrical energy to return, the subconscious mind automatically imagines the light dimmer and turns the positive energy into a full blast.

Hypnotic Discovery

A hypnotherapy session begins with an in-depth exploration of the client’s mental and emotional landscape through meaningful conversation. This initial phase is crucial for me to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the client’s mind operates. By engaging in these conversations, I can observe subtle yet telling details, such as variations in their voice tone, which may shift when they discuss different issues. I also pay close attention to changes in their skin color, the movement of their eyes, and other nonverbal signals conveyed through their body language.

As I delve into these observations, I enter a state of heightened focus and vigilance. This transformation is unique to my role as a hypnotherapist; it feels as though a switch has been flipped in my brain, amplifying my sensitivity to these cues. This heightened awareness allows me to better connect with and understand the client’s experiences and needs.

I see this ability as both a profound gift and a deep passion. It is immensely rewarding to leverage these skills to assist individuals in overcoming challenges and unlocking their full potential. Being able to support so many people in improving their lives is an honor that I cherish deeply.

Past-Life Regression

Past Life Regression is a therapy where people claim to go back in time using hypnosis to visit experiences they had in a previous life. Many times past-life regression is used for fun or entertainment and has not been proven to be real.

When conducting a past-life regression, it is important to set an anchor, which is a cue for the person to come out of hypnosis as soon as the wrist or another part of the body is tapped.  The cue is identified at the beginning of hypnosis both in the conscious and subconscious mind.

I once had a lady who visualized herself in a Nazi concentration camp and she died while suffocating in a gas chamber.  She began to scream and I was able to bring her out of hypnosis immediately by tapping her on the risk.

Overcoming Fears and Phobias

Hypnosis can be a powerful tool for overcoming fears and phobias. Hypnosis can help people reframe their thoughts and emotions around their fear by inducing a relaxed and suggestible state of mind. For example, a person who fears flying may be guided through a visualization exercise to imagine themselves on a plane and feeling calm and relaxed. Hypnosis can also help people develop coping strategies and confidence to face their fears.

Hypnosis can be a valuable tool for achieving a wide range of goals. By using hypnosis to overcome fears and phobias, manage stress and anxiety, quit smoking, promote healthy habits, and improve performance and much more, a person can enhance their overall well-being and achieve their full potential.

Ethical Guidelines for Hypnotherapists

Hypnotherapists must be certified.  This includes training and practice hours by a legitimate school.  Education consists of two to three years followed by practice hours.  It is important to ask a hypnotherapist if they are certified.  I received my training from the reputable Hypnosis Motivation Institute, https://hypnosis.edu

Hypnotherapists are held to ethical standards designed to protect the person being hypnotized and ensure that hypnosis is used for positive purposes. Some vital ethical guidelines for hypnotherapists include:

  • Obtaining informed consent from the person being hypnotized
  • Providing a safe and comfortable environment for hypnosis
  • Using hypnosis only for the client’s benefit, not for personal gain or manipulation
  • Informing the client that I am not a trained mental health nor a medical practitioner and that hypnosis is not a substitute for standard medical, psychological, or psychiatric treatment.
  • Inform the client that the major purpose of hypnosis is for self-improvement and not for mental health issues or diagnosis
  • Respecting the person’s autonomy and right to refuse hypnosis or terminate the session at any time
  • Maintaining confidentiality and privacy of the client’s information

I always have the client sign an acknowledgment of services form indicating that they understand and agree that the major purpose of the program is for self-improvement and not for mental health issues or diagnosis.  And that they further understand that the hypnotherapist is neither a trained mental health nor a medical practitioner and that hypnosis is not a substitute for standard medical, psychological, or psychiatric treatment, and that at no time will the hypnosis practitioner attempt to provide medical or mental health therapy.

Ensuring Safety during Hypnosis

Hypnosis is generally safe when used appropriately and with proper training and expertise. However, it is essential to take precautions to ensure safety during hypnosis. Some key safety considerations include:

  • Screening for severe mental illness
  • Monitoring the client’s physical and emotional responses during hypnosis
  • Using a calm and reassuring voice
  • Avoiding any suggestions that may be harmful or triggering

Recognizing and Responding to Adverse Reactions

Although rare, some people may experience adverse reactions to hypnosis. Adverse reactions may include anxiety, panic, or confusion. Recognizing and responding to adverse reactions is essential to ensure the person’s safety and well-being. Some strategies for identifying and responding to adverse reactions include:

  • Monitoring the client’s physical and emotional responses during hypnosis
  • Being prepared to terminate the session if necessary
  • Providing reassurance and support to the client
  • Referring the person to appropriate medical or mental health professionals if needed

By following ethical and safety guidelines and being prepared to recognize and respond to adverse reactions, a hypnotherapist can help ensure a positive and safe experience for the person being hypnotized.

EMBRACING THE POWER OF VIRTUAL HYPNOTHERAPY: HEALING FROM ANYWHERE

In today’s fast-paced world, finding time for self-care and healing can often feel like a luxury. With busy schedules, long commutes, and various commitments, many individuals struggle to prioritize their well-being. However, thanks to advancements in technology, accessing transformative healing experiences has never been easier. Enter virtual hypnotherapy – a revolutionary approach to healing that transcends geographical barriers and offers unparalleled convenience.

Virtual hypnotherapy, conducted through platforms like Zoom, Skype, or other video conferencing tools, has emerged as a powerful tool for achieving deep relaxation, personal transformation, and healing. As a certified hypnotherapist, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact virtual sessions can have on individuals seeking relief from a range of physical, emotional, and psychological ailments.

One of the most significant advantages of virtual hypnotherapy is its accessibility. Regardless of location – whether in bustling cities like Houston/Dallas/Austin/ San Antonio, or remote rural areas – clients can access quality hypnotherapy sessions from the comfort of their own homes. This eliminates the need for time-consuming travel and allows individuals to schedule sessions at times that suit their busy lifestyles.

But what makes virtual hypnotherapy truly remarkable is its ability to deliver results. Contrary to common misconceptions, virtual sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions, if not more so. Through the use of visualization techniques, guided imagery, and deep relaxation induction, clients can experience profound healing and transformation, often in a shorter period than traditional therapy methods.

One of the key tools I utilize during virtual hypnotherapy sessions is a pendulum, which serves as a visual aid to deepen relaxation and induce trance states. The visual aspect of the pendulum is particularly well-suited for virtual sessions, as clients can easily follow its movements on their computer screens, enhancing the overall therapeutic experience.

My journey into virtual hypnotherapy began with a terminally ill client who preferred to receive sessions from the comfort of his own home. Witnessing the positive impact virtual sessions had on his quality of life inspired me to expand my practice and make virtual hypnotherapy a primary offering. Since then, I have successfully conducted sessions for clients across various treatment areas, including smoking cessation, stress reduction, and personal growth.  I also am able to see current clients that I work with on an ongoing basis in New York City and Los Angeles.  If a client lives near me and wishes to have an in-person session, I accommodate their desires.

In conclusion, virtual hypnotherapy represents a powerful and accessible means of achieving healing and transformation from anywhere in the world. Whether you’re seeking relief from chronic pain, overcoming limiting beliefs, or simply looking to enhance your overall well-being, virtual hypnotherapy offers a convenient and effective solution.

If you’re ready to experience the life-changing benefits of virtual hypnotherapy, I invite you to schedule a session with me today. Together, we can embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and personal growth – all from the comfort of your own home.

EXPLORING THE POWER OF HYPNOTHERAPY FOR CHRONIC PAIN RELIEF

In the realm of alternative healing modalities, hypnotherapy stands out as a potent tool for managing chronic pain. From the bustling streets of Dallas to the vibrant neighborhoods of Houston, individuals grappling with debilitating conditions such as cancer are increasingly turning to this holistic approach for relief.

Meet John*, a recent transplant from Dallas to Houston, whose life took an unexpected turn with a stage four cancer diagnosis. Despite the best efforts of modern medicine and a regimen of pain medications, John found himself enduring relentless discomfort that hindered his quality of life.

Enter hypnotherapy—a practice that delves deep into the subconscious mind to unlock the body’s innate ability to heal. As a certified hypnotherapist based in Houston, I had the privilege of working with John and witnessing firsthand the transformative power of this ancient practice.

Our sessions began with a simple yet profound intention: to alleviate John’s pain and restore a sense of balance and well-being to his life. Drawing upon metaphysical hypnosis techniques, I guided John through visualizations aimed at harnessing the body’s natural healing energies.

One of the key aspects of our sessions was the use of metaphorical imagery—a technique that allowed John to visualize an electrical light permeating every cell in his body, bathing him in a warm, healing glow. With each session, John reported a gradual but significant reduction in his pain levels, accompanied by a newfound sense of calm and inner peace.

What sets hypnotherapy apart is its holistic approach to healing. Rather than merely masking symptoms, it addresses the root cause of pain by tapping into the mind-body connection. For John, this meant not only finding relief from physical discomfort but also gaining a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological factors contributing to his condition.

As John’s journey illustrates, hypnotherapy holds tremendous promise for individuals seeking alternatives to traditional pain management strategies. Whether you’re in Dallas or Houston—or anywhere in between—exploring the transformative potential of hypnotherapy could be the key to unlocking a life free from chronic pain.

If you or someone you know is struggling with pain, consider reaching out. I conduct virtual sessions and if you are near me in Houston.  The sessions can be in-person. Together, we can embark on a journey of healing and discovery, tapping into the remarkable power of the mind through hypnosis to overcome adversity and reclaim vitality.

REDUCING STRESS AND ANXIETY FOR MY CLIENT PALOMA VIA ZOOM

Since 2017, I have been working with Paloma, an actress in New York City who came to me for relief of stress and anxiety.  She felt that this was holding her back from getting good acting parts.

After I moved to Houston, Paloma and I continued to work together remotely over Zoom. This has gone amazingly well.   Paloma’s condition has improved significantly, and we continue to work together remotely to this day.

Every time she is working on a new project, we have a session to ensure that she performs at her best.  I am proud that her career is flourishing because she is able to audition without the stress and anxiety that was holding her back.

Paloma is so appreciative of my services, and here is what she has to say about me:

“Ralph is very good at what he does. I used to see hypnotists back in California, but I remember the quality of the results being uneven. Ralph gave me solid tools to deal with some extremely upsetting situations over the past 7 months. I have found Ralph to be an empathic, perceptive practitioner with consistently strong instincts.

Not only that, he’s an easygoing and genuinely good guy who always makes me feel safe and comfortable enough to go on the hypnotic journey.

I definitely wouldn’t have made it through my first year in a full-time conservatory program (it was a demanding and stressful atmosphere) were it not for the series of hypnosis sessions that I did with him.”

STRESS & ANXIETY

Stress and Anxiety affect millions.  It is a condition that will interfere with your ability to live the best life possible.  This is a multibillion-dollar industry and one of the key solutions is harmful medications.  You may become permanently dependent on them, making you a slave to pharmacology.

However, there is a better way.  One that is safe and natural and will bring amazing results in the relief of stress and anxiety.

Hypnosis, is a safe and effective way yielding amazing results in the relief of stress and anxiety.

Positive Power Hypnotherapy uses a unique process that combines the conscious and subconscious to allow you to move forward in all areas of your life. Through hypnosis, we redesign your mind so that when negative thoughts arise, they are automatically replaced with positive ones.

THEORY OF THE MIND

The mind is made up of 15% conscious mind and 85% subconscious mind.  We learn in the conscious mind, and the information is permanently recorded in the subconscious mind.

Many times, we have learned to react to circumstances and situations in a negative way, causing stress and anxiety.  This has been recorded in your subconscious mind so every time the situation arises it creates negative feelings.  Hypnosis will change the way you react to negative situations and will create new positive behaviors that will relieve stress and anxiety.  We do this through Mindset Transformation Hypnosis.

SMOKING CESSATION

I have been very successful at helping people quit smoking.

I have developed a unique and powerful hypnotic induction, achieving amazing results. My clients are able to move forward and automatically let go of negative thoughts, eliminating the need to smoke.

The subconscious mind will be reordered so that when thoughts of smoking arise, they are fleeting, and are automatically replaced with positive thoughts of the smoke-free life you desire.

You will become a nonsmoker.

Here is what my clients are saying about my smoking cessation program:

“I smoked for 25yrs a pack and a half to 2 packs a day. I went to his session kinda not knowing what to expect. Wasn’t even sure I was ready to quit. Smoking was my best friend. I haven’t smoked for over a month. He was kind, had GREAT tips, and most of all I was completely comfortable during my session. Which made my mind switch to a nonsmoker. UNBELIEVABLE that he helped me accomplish my goal. I would recommend Mr. Gonzalez to anyone. Thank you sir for changing my life.”

Danny White

“I came with a 30 year 2 pack a day smoking habit. I wanted to quit for myself no Dr.  telling me that I had to. So far it has been great. All I know is today I’m not smoking, I’ll deal with tomorrow’s cigarette urge tomorrow. One day I won’t even think about then any more. Plus Ralph is a great guy that is in this to help people which made this easier!”

 Noneya

“200 days smoke-free. Ralph is a super nice and supportive therapist, who not only helped me to quit smoking, but I also went through a breakup exactly one week after I had quit for the first time and was a complete mess. I broke down and smoked a whole pack that day, but haven’t smoked again ever since, thanks to his coaching and follow-up. Make sure you do your research on hypnotherapy because it’s not magic, but if you are really ready to quit, Ralph is your guy!”

MR. GRAMER WALKS AFTER HYPNOSIS SESSIONS WITH ME

I was asked to visit an elderly man who had been in the hospital for a while and was unable to sit up or walk.  After a few hypnosis sessions he was able to sit up and walk.  I believe to be a good hypnotherapist, one must extremely care about the client.  Sometimes all people need is love and good hypnosis and amazing things will manifest.

His doctor was so impressed that he came for a session just to understand what I had done.  I explained to him that the power of the subconscious mind is powerful, and a person can do anything with the right hypnotic induction.  I also told him that caring and showing love goes a long way.

Following is a review form his wife, Mrs. Gramer:

“My husband has been in the hospital for 90 days, 4 surgeries, tremendous pain from a horrific wound in his groin, very weak and depressed. He has had a wound vac on since November 10, 2019. He walked into the hospital and can’t get up by himself and definitely is not able to walk.

My husband and I were very impressed with our first visit. Very professional and caring and explains things very well.

He has slept the last 2 nights, had less pain and almost sat up on the side of the bed by himself. He took 20 steps with a walker 2 days ago and walked again today.

Best money I ever spent.”

               Martha Gramer
